It’s pride month, that time of year when we queer folk get to express ourselves and have gross corporations try to sell us things with rainbows on them like that makes their behaviour the rest of the year totally fine. If you’re celebrating pride this weekend, you could be up to all sorts of activities. You might be going to a march and celebrating loudly and publicly amongst hundreds of friends and allies. Or maybe you get a little anxious in crowds like this boy so you could be going to a picnic, the gayest of activities, or maybe even just for a drink or a party. No matter how you are celebrating your sexuality, identity and culture it can always be made a little more fun with the perfect strain of weed. So let’s have a little look at some of the best strains for Pride.
Blue Dream
If you are planning on spending the day on your feet marching to celebrate Pride then this is the perfect strain for you. Blue Dream is famous for being one of the most persevering strains on the market. It is energetic, long-lasting, and extremely cerebral. So not only will it keep you marching all day it will also heighten your senses so you can enjoy all the beauty marching around you. Blue Dream can be pretty strong so I would pace yourself if you’re starting in the morning, the THC level usually sits at around 25%. This strain was created by combining some of the finest genetics around. Blueberry, Afghani, Mexican, Thai and Silver Haze genetics can all be found in the fabulous Blue Dream. Just remember that when you’re marching, especially if you are marching high, carry plenty of water and stay hydrated. Especially if the weather is meant to be hot which it likely is. Blue Dream has a flowering time of 65 – 70 days and can be grown indoors or outdoors.
Cookies ‘n’ Cream
This is the chilling in a park for a picnic or something similar strain. Cookies ‘n’ Cream is a super chill, strong and uplifting strain that will make you feel happy and at peace with nature around you. You can just lie there staring up through a tree at the sky and think about how great it is to be queer. That’s pretty much what I spend all my weekends doing but I’ll do it extra hard this weekend. If you suffer from anxiety, stress, chronic pain, muscle spasms or headaches this strain will soothe those pesky problems so that you can just relax and enjoy your day. It’s also fantastic for those who suffer from appetite issues. This baby isn’t quite as powerful as Blue Dream but still has a hefty THC level of 17%. Despite being relaxing this isn’t a sleepy strain so you are fine to consume at any time of day. Cookies ‘n’ Cream has a flowering time of 8 weeks and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.
Alien OG
This strain is a chill but euphoric high which is perfect for partying after you march. It’ll bring you down from the intensity of the day but will still bring you right up so you can enjoy yourself as much as humanly possible. The high is psychedelic and cerebral so great for places with plenty of lights and decorations. Alien OG has a THC level of 18% so again it’s pretty strong and beginners should beware so they don’t go overboard. So take her slow, really let the high build and enjoy yourself. Don’t go overboard or you might go past fun into too intense. Alien OG has a flowering time of 8 weeks and grows indoors or outdoors.
New York Diesel
Now, this strain is for the hard-core partiers, the kind that is going to march all day then party literally all night and just take the consequences for the next week. This strain is famous for its phenomenal flavours and scents as well as its effects. It is extremely powerful and energising while also making social events much easier. This strain tends to make people happy, chatty and ready to dance so absolutely ideal for a Pride after-party. Especially if, like me, you’re around 30 and up so you need some serious help staying awake past 11 even when you haven’t been walking in the sun all day. Stay hydrated! Again the THC level is around 18% so it can be pretty strong for new smokers. As well as increasing energy this strain is often used to treat muscle pain, muscle spasms, stress, depression, and anxiety which are all things that might ruin your party.
Do-Si-Dos
This strain is another one that is full of energy but isn’t for quite the same sort of event as New York Diesel. Another way that a lot of people celebrate Pride is by throwing slightly sexier parties. There are a lot of kink and vanilla queer events going on around this time and if you plan on throwing your hat into that ring Do-Si-Dos is a fantastic option. It’ll keep you alert and ready to go whilst also massively heightening your senses whilst also relaxing you. This is perfect if you need a little help loosening up so that you can do a little bit of exploring. The combination of euphoria and relaxation is honestly the best thing you could ask for in a sexy strain.
It is also a great option if you are just celebrating Pride by having an extra special date night with your partner. Since it’s so chill it suits candles, chocolate-covered strawberries, and maybe a little champagne, just as much as it suits a dungeon.
