Hello. My name is Steve. I go by the name of NickelCityGrowGuy on Instagram. I am 35 years old and have been growing cannabis for about 5 to 6 years now. I mostly grow for recreational use. I do enjoy some of the medical benefits of cannabis though. It really aids in helping me sleep, and provides some inflammatory help when Ive had a long day at work.

Prior to growing cannabis I had zero horticulture experience. I have been consuming for over 15 years but never thought I’d be able to grow it myself. It started with a clone i received from a friend. I put it under the stairs in my basement under the worst lighting possible.  At that point I went out and bought just about every horticulture book I could find. I spent a lot of time on Internet forums as well just trying to soak up as much information as I could.  My first grow turned out exceptionally well and I was amazed at what I could do.

After my first grow I started to experiment with different growing methods. I tried growing organically and using synthetic nutrients.  Im still going back and fourth to this day. The first few years I started growing photoperiod plants. I then discovered “autoflowers”. These plants intrigued me so much. I couldn’t  believe I was able to grow a plant from seed to harvest in under 70 days. I mostly grow autoflowers now but I will go back and fourth to do a photoperiod grow around once a year. I love discovering new strains and trying to better my techniques each grow I do. It’s a never ending learning process and it’s a hobby I have learned to love.
