Microdosing is becoming more and more popular as a way of treating mental health issues as well as just generally for recreational purposes. Often microdosing is done using psychedelics such as LSD or mushrooms but has also become very popular with cannabis as well. This is largely for the same reason that people use CBD only strains etc. Weed has a lot of amazing properties and can improve your overall lifestyle and your body without actually getting you high. If you need something to help you reduce anxiety, depression and all sorts of other things that can make day to day life difficult. If you want it to work well then you need to make sure you’re microdosing properly to get the best out of it that you can.
What Exactly Is Microdosing?
Honestly it’s extremely simple, microdosing is when you take a very small dose of the drug rather than a normal recreational dose. With weed this means that you don’t get enough of the psychoactive THC to actually get high but do get the other benefits of the drug. Though it seems like a pretty basic concept it’s a relatively recent one that got started where a lot of things do, in Silicon Valley. Microdosing was initially used to increase creativity and help people think outside of the box whilst also being more productive.
You shouldn’t feel at all high from microdosing, which could take a little bit of time to get just right. It’s supposed to just play with your brain chemistry in the right way to make everything a little bit better.
What’s The Point?
As I said people have used microdosing to improve creativity and productivity but it can have all sorts of effects depending on your brain. If you suffer from depression, anxiety, chronic pain, bipolar, a personality disorder, stress, headaches and a bunch of other stuff microdosing could be really helpful for your day to day life. As someone who suffers from every single one of those things I can tell you that along with your normal medications etc. microdosing is safe and can really help. Not just from my perspective but from the anecdotal evidence of thousands all over the world we know that it can make a huge difference. The idea of microdosing may be strange to those who only get high recreationally but even if you don’t have any medical issues it could reduce it can still help your brain in other ways. No matter who you are you will occasionally struggle with motivation and creativity when working, can struggle with down days, with tired days, the list could go on and on. Many have found that microdosing improves their day to day life even if they aren’t struggling with physical or mental health issues.
How To Microdose
The idea of microdosing is to get the minimal noticeable effect while still experiencing the positives. This can take a while to perfect as, like I said before, everyone’s brain and body is different. Just like we all have different THC tolerances we will all have different microdosing tolerances. The general advice is to start between 1 and 2.5 milligrams of THC and to continue with that dosage for at least three days. I would also suggest keeping notes and monitoring how you feel during that time. If you feel absolutely no change you can increase by 1 milligram and then use that dosage for four days and so on until you find your perfect balance. You will likely go a little past it and get an actual effect but that’s ok, when you hit that place you know to back down by 1 to 0.5 milligrams. Once you find relief without feeling effects you can just stick with that dose for as long as needed.
If you smoke weed it is recommended that you stay off recreational smoking for at least two days before starting your microdosing regiment.
Ways To Microdose
So your next step is to decide how you would like to microdose. There are a few different options available so you can find something to suit you perfectly.
Vaping – Just like with normal smoking you can microdose with a vape. You can get oil concentrates which are definitely the easiest way to microdose with a vape. Using dry flowers can be tricky to get an exact THC dosage. Vapes make it easy to alter dosage and should give you a pretty quick idea of how that dosage is affecting you.
Smoking – This is possible but honestly not the best way to microdose. It’s extremely difficult to make sure your dose is right and generally it’s also worse for you. Though it’s an option I would leave smoking for getting high rather than for microdosing.
Edibles – This is definitely the best for your body and the easiest way to make sure your dosage is exactly right. The great thing about using edibles is you can purchase them with the exact dosages on the package which makes it way easier to make sure you’re getting exactly what you need. The only issue with these is that, just like with normal edibles, you need to wait a few hours for it to kick in so you do need to be a little more patient.
Risks of Microdosing
Of course, like with anything drug related there will be some risks. Comparatively cannabis is incredibly safe, I mean my lithium can completely destroy my kidneys if I don’t stay hydrated. Obviously with microdosing you won’t overdose, and also you can’t overdose on weed but just letting you know that’s definitely not a worry. The main risks come with smoking or vaping and that’s not related really to microdosing more to just how those activities affect your body. It’s also possible for weed to have a slight effect on blood pressure which would be dangerous for anyone suffering from heart issues, just ask your doctor before starting. Really just ask your doctor in general especially if you are on other medications or have serious health issues.
