What Is Terpene Spray and How Do You Use It?

In our blog articles, we don’t just regularly tell you about different CBD products that our company has in stores. On occasion, we also realise our second goal – to increase CBD awareness among people. And today, we would like to take the best of both worlds and present you with an extensive guide on terpene spray. This product is fairly new on the market, one which not many CBD consumers have any information about or might have only heard about in passing, and on the other hand, it is represented in our product lines. So, fasten your seat belt, and let’s start with some information about what terpene spray is and how it can be used.

What is a terpene spray?

A terpene spray is a product that allows the user to apply terpenes (aromas contained in the hemp plant) very quickly and homogeneously. The design of the spray is not particularly complicated, and because the valve is specially designed to micro-grind the product, using the spray is easy and comfortable.

Possible health benefits of hemp terpenes

According to various animal and clinical studies, terpenes may have several possible health benefits in treating the following conditions and diseases:

  • Inflammation

One study reports that terpenes may have a variety of applications in treating different types of inflammation, including neuro and skin inflammation.

  • Diabetes

Another study shows that plant terpenes can be applied in targeting type II diabetes with alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase inhibition, reduction of oxidative stress, hypolipidemic activity and other actions.

  • Allergy

According to a study, terpenes in the hemp plant may be effective in dealing with seasonal asthma and allergic rhinitis, as well as “thunderstorm” asthma.

  • Anxiety

Some terpenes contained in the plant (guiaol, eucalyptol, gamma-terpinene, alpha-phellandrene, 3-carene and sabinene hydrate) may have a notable correlation with decreased anxiolytic activity.

  • Tumours

Another study claims that various terpenes found in the hemp plant (myrcene, limonene, pinene, linalool, bisabolol and others) may have a positive effect in combating tumours, including the potential treatment of cancer cells.

This is just a list of the main conditions and diseases that terpenes may help to treat. Not only do terpenes have potential medicinal benefits, but they also create the characteristic smell of many plants in a variety of foods.

Possible applications of hemp terpenes

The terpenes of different plants, including hemp, can be used for various applications. The main ones are adding the characteristic aroma of the hemp plant to various products, including:

  • edibles;
  • dried flowers (also called “hemp buds” or “hemp flowers”);
  • extractions.

If you want your meals to have different aromas, terpenes are the right choice to use. A wide range of diverse aromas and flavours will make your products smell wonderful. And how do you use terpene spray? The answer can be found in the next sections of the article.

Instructions on how to use terpene spray

Generally speaking, a terpene spray is a very easy-to-use device for adding flavour to different products. It allows users to add aroma to a large number of products quickly and easily. The key steps are as follows:

  1. Do not shake the spray before or during use.
  2. Hold the spray at a distance of 35-45 cm from the product to be flavoured.
  3. Ensure you spray quickly and uniformly to avoid an excess of fragrance in certain areas.
  4. Push the spray button to diffuse the flavour. Each push dispenses 0.4 to 0.8 ml of aroma (depending on how much pressure you apply to the button).
  5. Release the required number of sprays. Remember that the total amount of sprayed material must never exceed 4% of the weight of the finished product.
  6. You’re all done! The product has been flavoured.

Below, we will give you some instructions on how to use terpene gel on different products. The main points are the same, but there are some differences, so the directions may differ slightly.

Can you spray terpenes on weed?

Terpene sprays are ideal for infusing the flavour of the hemp plant into different products. And weed can be one of them. By spraying terpenes on it, the flavour and aroma can be enhanced. Here’s a set of brief instructions on how to make weed smell better with the terpenes.

  1. Don’t shake the spray before or during use.
  2. Use the terpene spray for weed from a distance of 35-45 cm, ensuring an even coating to avoid excess flavour in certain areas.
  3. Every second of spray corresponds to between 0.4 and 0.8 ml of aroma, depending on how hard you press the button.

How do you apply terpene spray to food?

Terpene sprays are suitable for use on food. They are perfect for adding terpenes (hemp aromas) to all kinds of edibles quickly and efficiently. There is a wide variety of edible products for which the spray can be used: snacks, pastries, meals and others. The directions are as follows:

  1. It is not recommended that you shake the spray before or during use.
  2. Spray the food to be flavoured from a distance of 35-45 cm, making sure to sweep quickly and evenly to avoid excess flavour in certain areas.
  3. Once sprayed on the finished product (both sides if possible), store in an airtight container to ensure complete homogenisation.
  4. Every second of spraying corresponds to between 0.4 and 0.8 ml of aroma, depending on how hard you press the button.
  5. Remember that the total amount sprayed should never exceed 4% of the finished product’s weight.
  6. Voilà! Your food is now flavoured with your favourite aroma.

How do you add hemp terpenes to buds?

Buds, or flowers, are another product that is ideal for spraying with our special tool. These are a few brief directions for adding terpenes to buds.

  1. Shaking the spray before or during use is not recommended.
  2. Spread the flowers out as much as possible. This will make the diffusion of the aromas more effective.
  3. Spray the buds from a distance of 35-45 cm and ensure a quick and even coating to avoid over-flavouring certain areas.
  4. After spraying the finished product (on both sides), store it in an airtight container to ensure complete homogenisation. We suggest leaving the sprayed buds in the container for at least 24 hours for better homogenisation of the terpenes into the buds.
  5. Each second of spraying corresponds to about 0.4 and 0.8 ml of aroma, depending on how hard you press the button. The total amount sprayed should never exceed 4% of the finished product’s weight.
  6. That’s it! After 24 hours, the buds will be flavoured and have the aroma that you want.
